LAST TRY SUMMARY:
LastTry.com, beta launched in August 2011, is a social community for skaters developed by skaters. Simply put, Last Try is a place for you to archive your skateboarding experience. Whether that is your achievements on a board, photos of you, clips you edited, or just the things you like and dislike about skateboarding, Last Try has a way for you to do so. Sure, Facebook and the other social networks are good for maintaining your social life, but skateboarding can tend to get lost in the clutter. At Last Try, skateboarding is the topic at hand. It is your content, it is other skateboarders’ content, and it is our content. There have been other attempts at online skateboarding communities in the past, but this one is made for us skateboarders based on what we like and need. It is here to give each of us a voice, to help us find skate buddies in other cities, and to share our love of skateboarding. It is a work in process and we will always be working to make it better, so please send any suggestions our way.

Position: Front End Developer, Full Time

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Develop and maintain our web user interfaces
- Provide graphical components (ie. typography, screen layout and color choices) for prototypes as well as creating assets for final development
- Manage and maintain graphic files (ie. logo's, icons, photos and artwork)
- Work collaboratively with product development team in Agile environment
- Ability to work within the limitations and abilities of existing web technologies, browsers and OS platform
REQUIREMENTS
- HTML, XHTML, XSL, XML,CSS, JQuery, JS, Wordpress, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, CVS, Team Foundation, Protoshare
- 2+ years of Front End web experience
- Skilled with selecting typography, screen layout and color
- Experience building cross-browser compatible user-interfaces
- Experience integrating with third-parties/APIs
- Proficient with a variety of graphic formats – jpeg, ico, gif, tif, png, pdf etc.
- Strong usage and proficiency with social media and networking platforms
- A genuine enjoyment of usable user interfaces and building better software
- Ability to multi-task and efficiently manage time and priorities
- Meticulous knack for detail; must be organized and detail oriented
- Desire to thrive in a fast paced environment
- Strong communication and team playing skills

LAST TRY INTERN – PRODUCT AND MARKETING

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Conducting marketing research on skater audience segments
- Researching new user social tools and skateboarding trends, and presenting to product team
- Determining distribution partnerships (eg. Aligning surf/skateboard shop owners, skateboard bloggers, skateboard related companies, content publishers, and local skate parks)
- Assist in QA of new feature rollouts
- Participate in creating and executing focus group initiatives
- Assist in execution of online and offline marketing programs
- Conduct efficacy analysis of marketing investment
- Update third party social tools to increase connectedness to our members: Last Try Facebook fan page, Twitter feed, Youtube page
- Assist members and be a member advocate
- Special projects
REQUIREMENTS
- Skateboard enthusiast is a plus; bonus points if you can beat Eby in a game of SKATE.
- An undergraduate degree (either completed or in progress)
- Excellent writing, editing, and research skills
- Basic knowledge of HTML and Photoshop is a plus
- Must love using Facebook, Twitter and trying new applications!
- Strong usage and proficiency with social media and networking platforms
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, full Excel and PowerPoint
- Superior verbal and written communication and customer service skills
- Ability to multi-task and efficiently manage time and priorities
- Meticulous knack for detail; must be organized and detail oriented

This internship is a 20 hours per week, unpaid position, but we are happy to work with you to obtain course credit at your university.
